5.31 Discovering the truth

William had finally found Mathew at, ‘The Grind,’ feeling sorry for himself. “Mind if I join you?”

Matt shrugged his shoulders and Will took that as a yes. “Where is Hazel?” Matt hiccupped before he replied, “I don’t know and I don’t care.” William lowered himself and said in a firm whisper, “Bullshit Mathew and your drunk.”
“So what.”

He dragged Mathew outside and yelled, “So rather than actually talk to Hazel, you leave her at the house and come out and get drunk.”
“And it feels great…”
“What is wrong with you?”

“Did you know she tried to get pregnant without me knowing…?” Will interrupted him, “I know she did. The one thing you’ve never done though is give her credit for admitting that she had tried to do it and that she was sorry but I know you, so out with it.”
“She wants to control me, she didn’t want the business offer and…”

Will snapped, “I can read your mind, shall I tell you what you have been thinking since all this kicked off but you being drunk has made it clearer for you. You were pissed off at first she tried to get pregnant but you really wanted that test to come back positive. You hate having protected sex with Hazel because you feel it’s not natural, you hate university but are going through with it to make everyone happy.”
Mathew was horrified and yelled, “Estevan doesn’t agree with your opinion.”
“He does but we all want you to wait to get married and have a family.”

Mathew was angry and staggered back home. When he saw his Dad and Estevan talking he interrupted their conversation and said firmly, “I do like university but I will control when I get married and have a family.” He turned on his heels and made his way through the door when Spencer said, “I know deep down you want a family, I don’t need to read your mind to know that but you aren’t ready…”

Matt spun around and looked at his Dad and yelled, “How would you know, after all you were sixteen when I was born and I’m older than you were.”
Estevan finally said, “Mathew, go and sleep the alcohol off before we all say things that we can’t take back.”

Matt staggered upstairs into his room, “Hazel.” He shouted but there was no answer. He was angry, hurt and his hormones were driving him crazy because of the lack of sex.

He heard his drums being played and made his way up the next set of stairs but only just managed it. He tried to walk in a straight line and opened the door to the music room watching for a few moments. Hazel was trying to play the drums when Matt finally asked her, “What are you doing?”

“Trying to find out what the appeal is of hitting two sticks on these drums are. I can’t figure it out or play,” putting the sticks down. Hazel looked at Matt, are these drums you go on about?”
“Yes, they helped me through my darkest days as a teen.”

Then Hazel was shocked at what Matt said next, “Bedroom now!” There was no other words nor was there a please but Hazel blindly followed his instructions.

When they got to the bedroom Hazel just stood there frozen to the spot. She stayed quiet now realising he was very drunk and hoped that he would fall asleep but he started shouting at her, “You are lucky I’m over here and not right by you or I’d be stripping you naked and have my way with you but I’m not that type of man.” Hazel quietly asked, “Can I sit down while you talk.”

Matt just looked at her and Hazel just fell on to the bed not once taking her eyes of him. She had never seen him like this and wasn’t sure how to take it. “Do you have any idea how pissed off at you, I am? Here’s a clue, very. I have been thinking a lot but having a drink cleared a few things up for me. You hurt me by trying to get pregnant without me knowing…”
“I said I was…”
“Hazel don’t…just listen.”

Hazel now just looked at the floor and listened, “At first I hated you for what you did but when the test came back negative secretly I was heartbroken. I’m not sure about being at university; I don’t want a long engagement. Since seeing the twins, I want a baby of my own with you, I want you off that damn pill and I want the business. Also I want to be equal in this relationship not you controlling me or me controlling you.”

Hazel slid off the bed onto the floor, “I’m so sorry Mathew; I really am.” By now the alcohol was wearing off and Mathew saw Hazel in a state on the floor. He felt awful how he had told her what he was feeling; he should have said it when he was sober.

He ran over and fell to his knees, holding her.  He lifted her face so he had eye contact and softly said, “I miss my Hazel, I miss us. Let’s start again and this time, be completely honest about things.”
“I miss us too but I will stay on the pill for a while longer because I want to enjoy being us again.”

Matt claimed her mouth and pulled her even closer then softly said, “Ok but please be open to the fact that I may want to return home one day.”

David sat by the pool waiting to see Ty or Elvira. Suddenly he saw Ty who was in shock when he saw David. Ty approached him and asked, “How the hell…?”
“Never mind that, come with me.”

Once they were in David’s room he asked showing him a picture, “Is this the Elvira that is bugging you?”
“Yes but…did Harmony send you? I told her I can fix this,” David yelled, “Do you know who this woman is?”
Ty shook his head as he replied, “Just an evil, annoying woman.”
“Did she mention a perfect ex-boyfriend?” Ty looked puzzled but replied, “Yes but her line to me was you’ll do, why?”
“It’s Blair you idiot and if she finds out you are dating his daughter she will use that as leverage over you to get Blair here. You haven’t done anything with this woman have you?”

“When I have Harmony no way would I trade my girl for Elvira? Who sent you to ask questions?” David knew he had to be honest and finally said, “Teddy banished Elvira when Estevan and Blair killed her but Draco smashed the container and now she is back. She has always had a soft spot for my son but I always felt something wasn’t right from the start. The look in Blair’s eyes wasn’t angry, he was scared…”
“Blair and Estevan are legends, why do you think I begged them for a job to learn from the best…”
“But even legends have their fears. Blair isn’t telling anyone what really went on but I’m guessing Estevan knows; only because I bet he’s read Blair’s mind. I don’t think he discussed what he knew with Blair either.”

Estevan shut the door and said to Blair, “You should let Teddy help you.”
“No. I don’t want her involved in this…”
“Too late, she already is. Did you ever tell her about your relationship with Elvira?”

Blair was now close to his brother, “Don’t you dare say her name in front of me. You have no idea what I went through…”
“Oh but I do…Who do you think got you away from her clutches and saved your sorry ass, me. She had a hold over you and at first I never understood what you saw in her but then I worked it out. When you first got with her it was novel and an experience, some might say you even had feelings for her but I know if you did it was short lived. When you tried to tell her it was over she did something to you that no vampire is allowed to do to another…”
“What could you possibly know about my relationship with that woman?”
“That she compelled you.”

Blair froze and quietly said, “The headaches she caused were unbearable, I can’t go back I just can’t.”
“If you go after her then to get you to go back she could compel you all over again. Teddy would be devastated.”
“So would I be, Teddy is my life but if she threatens Teddy then I will have no choice.”
“And if that bitch asks you to have sex with her…”
“I will refuse…”
“Until the headaches start again…”
“Listen baby bro, do you have any idea what sex was like with her?”
“You always claimed it was good…”

Blair grabbed Estevan and angrily said, “At first yes but when she started to compel me, she took advantage…that’s why I became a drunk to numb the pain, I don’t want to go back to that.”
“What did she do?”
“All you need to know is that bitch was evil and likes to see people suffer.”

“What do you want Sis?” Harmony looked at Draco and said carefully, “How bad can you be?” Draco smiled an evil grin, “You have my attention, what do you have in mind?”
“I went through Mum’s stuff and according to her ghosts books you unleashed Elvira, you have to end this.”
“Dad and Uncle Estevan are going to take care of this…”

“I heard Dad and Uncle Este talking and that bitch hurt our Dad so I want you to put this right.”
“What do you have in mind?”

“Something right up your street Draco. We leave when Mum and Dad are asleep.”

5.29 Panic

William was starting to get on with the twins so Mathew felt he could leave the house with Hazel.

He showed her around the town and they ended up at the arcade, “Do you think your Uncle William might need us back at the house?”
“Hazel he is doing ok we will go back in a bit but you need to see where I grew up. Come on let’s go in.”

He held her hand as they went inside, Hazel was impressed by the size of the arcade and how busy it seemed.”
“Your Uncle does well for himself.”
“This was the business that was going to be ours but I turned it down because I want you to be happy.”

He took her upstairs so they could sit down and as soon as Hazel saw Estevan she wanted to run but Mathew stood in front of her, “You are going to sort things out with my uncle because I want you to get on with him.” She turned to face Estevan and sat down, “Matt, go and get a drink; Hazel and I need to talk.” Hazel tried to protest but Matt did as he was asked.

“Hazel I won’t bite; you can say what is on your mind.”
“Ok, I think you need to stop controlling Matt.”

“Me control…you have a nerve young lady. May I remind you I can read minds and the fact you tried to get pregnant to keep Mathew! Let me ask you who is the controlling one?”
Hazel glanced at the floor then made eye contact with Estevan, “I was scared of losing him. You should see all the girls drool after him and some look better than me…”
Estevan interrupted her, “Have you listened to yourself, Matt wants to marry you. He sees his future in you. Can’t you see that? As for me, Mathew is family and all I want to do is give you both a head start.”
“But you will want to control him then the person I love will disappear.”

“He will disappear if you try and control him. Have fun, enjoy you as a couple, if you do that then he will stay and be the Mathew you love.” Hazel broke down and through tears said, “I have been stupid and silly and to think you were the monster yet it was me.”
“You’re not a monster Hazel, just very young and in love. Most youngsters don’t get engaged at your age they wait but Matt knew what he wanted and well… asked you to marry him.”
“I want everything with him a home, a family…”
“He wants it all as well just after you have finished university.”
“I’m going to have to fix things with Matt, aren’t I?” Estevan just smiled. Mathew came back up the stairs;

Hazel ran into Matt’s arms and said, “I am sorry that I upset you.” Matt softly said, “I hope we can talk it through now?”
“Can we talk and sort things out?” Matt smiled at Estevan as he put his arms around Hazel and walked downstairs.

Hazel tried to get close to Matt but he pulled away and said, “We need to sort things out,” Hazel just sat there and listened to what he had to say, “The last few months I’ve seen a side of you I don’t like. First you don’t want this business because you are afraid that my family will want to control me then you try to get pregnant to keep me. You already have me so why?”

“I saw that blonde, long leggy bitch try it on with you at university, yes you said no to her but then I heard her say to a few girls that she was going to have you and she was going to split us up because she is more your type…”
“What! Have I ever said no to you or said I wanted someone else?”
“No but I feel worse when they talk then I look in the mirror and see…”

Matt moved over and held her face, “I love you, Hazel. I don’t care if a girl wants me, I only want you. When I first laid eyes on you that was it but when I saw you in that bikini on our first date that sealed the deal for me.”
“You like this…”
“Yes, you are a very beautiful woman; you should have more confidence in yourself. The business deal please think about it but you should also consider I may want to move back home.”
“But...but…”
“All I ask is, we accept the deal and when we leave university then we decide where we live. As we will have grown together and know what we want.”

Hazel snuggled into Mathew and said softly, “We will talk about where we will live then but the business offer, I want to take it. You will have control on the business, right?”
“The day we leave university then yes, we will have control of the arcade.” Hazel smiled as Matt kissed her.

University

Ty was missing Harmony and phoned her, “Hay, How’s your day so far because I’m so bored.”
“Me too as it’s our day together yet we are apart…”
“This place is beautiful; I wish you were with me right now. The things we could be doing…”
“Ty remember I’m not old enough but if I don’t age soon I’m going to pop from frustration.” Ty laughed. Then he saw a woman walking his way, “Beauty, I have to go…”
“What’s wrong?” Ty didn’t want to worry her but vowed he’d never lie to her either, “This woman has been eyeing me up since I got here and she makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.”
“Tell her to stay away from you.”
“I did, I even said I was married but she won’t give up. I think I’m way out of my depth here, what should I do?”
“Ring Dad, he’ll know.”
“He is just starting to slowly come around and you want me to ring him saying a woman wants me…He will kill me. Look I’ll sort it, I will put her straight, don’t worry. Love you.”

Ty noticed as she leant against the bar, “Aren’t you going to offer a girl a drink?”
“I’d love too but as I said before…” She cut him off and ordered her drink and said, “He’ll have another as well.” Ty thought, ‘One drink then I’ll go straight back to my room alone.’
“Don’t you have a name?”
“I’m Ty and you are?”
“Names…I don’t do names just one nighters.” Ty was in shock, “Listen, I am flattered but I have a girl.”
“Yes you said but by the frustration in your eyes, you need some relief.”

Ty went to walk away but she stood in front of him running her fingers up his bare chest, “Not as good as my last boyfriend but I can work with that.” Ty was panicking and started to think, ‘Block your mind keep her out of your head, get help…wait if Blair hears about this, he will never let you near Harmony again. Keep her talking and out of your room and once again get help.’
“Look if we are going to you know…shouldn’t I know your name?”
“Oh very well my name is Elvira.”

5.28 Don't let them lose you too

Mathew was feeding one of the twins when he heard Art yelling at his Dad. He put the twin back in the cot and stormed into the room where he found Art and William.

He went straight over towards his uncle and punched him. Art yelled, “Matt, why did you do that?”

“Someone needs to knock sense into him. Haven’t we all been through enough, I mean she was my aunt? She was the closest thing to a mum I had while I was here and your Dad thinks that he is the only one hurting. Look at you…she was your Mum and yet here you are taking on the role of parent because Uncle Will here can’t or won’t pull himself together.” Matt turned towards his uncle and firmly asked, “Have you visited the twins yet?”

William looked out the window and sadly said, “No because it was because of them I lost my Heather.” Mathew had never felt such anger towards his Uncle before and said, “How dare you blame them, it is just one of those things, cruel things but you can’t bring her back.”

William now faced Mathew and said, “Then how come my granddad is still around and there is even a potion that Harmony gave him to make him human again?” Mathew looked stunned and Art now stepped in and said, “Aunt Teddy told you, if you are genuinely loved by someone or family then when you die you finally rest in peace but if like granddad you weren’t then you roam as a ghost.”
“He had two wives and Dad and Uncle Blair…” Art interrupted him, “Blair’s mum couldn’t stand him, he messed things with his sons and Gran was his love but because he messed things with his kids he would have to put things right before he can rest.”

William was desperate and yelled, “Then I never loved your mother.” Art became angry and Mathew looked at Art and could see the strain on his face by the comment. Art pulled himself together long another to say, “You’re lying Dad, you think by saying that Mum will suddenly appear? She is gone and you have to accept that.”

Art left the room and before Mathew left he said, “My advice, get your ass up those stairs and see your children because right now they need you. They have lost their mother, don’t let them lose you too.”

Spencer was at the stairs and asked, “Is Will going to see the twins?”
“I don’t know Dad, how are they doing?”
“No-one can stop them crying, I think they sense the atmosphere is bad in the house and I think the only one they want right now is their Dad. We have all tried but it’s no use.” Estevan walked in and looked at Spencer and Mathew, “Twins won’t stop crying?”
Spencer asked, “How did you…never mind, they are upstairs.”

As Estevan made his way up the stairs he yelled, “William Granger, get your ass up to the nursery now. I will not tell you again.”

As he picked up his grandson, he told everyone to leave. “Granddad is here so don’t worry.” William walked in and Estevan just looked at him, “My granddaughter is crying so pick her up and feed her.”

William did as he was told and said, “She won’t stop crying, Dad I can’t do this.”
“Nonsense, you can do this. Let’s swap and I’ll have my Granddaughter.”

They swapped the twins around and the moment he held his granddaughter she stopped crying. William tried to take her but she started every time she left Estevan’s arms. “See Dad she hates me.”
“Maybe it is because you haven’t seen her and spent time with her and the fact you haven’t given either of them a name won’t help.” William looked at his son and said, “Heather always liked the name Cole for a boy.”
“Cole is a good name and my granddaughter who is now calm in my arms.” William looked at her almost asleep in his Dad’s arms and then remembered the argument they had on the day of the funeral. William took a deep breath and asked, “Dad, how would feel if I named her after Mum?”

Estevan froze on the spot just snuggling his granddaughter then he finally spoke, “I think your Mum would be so proud of you right now. I think Holly is a very good name.” Then he snuggled her again and almost in a whisper said, “No boy is allowed near my Holly, ever.”
“Dad, I heard that now give my daughter to me.”

Estevan reluctantly gave her to William and she put her arm out towards him and looked at him with her eyes intently on her Dad’s.
“Dad she isn’t crying.”
“It’s because she knows now that you love her and she has a good name.”

Ty had finally got his bags ready to leave for his two week trip and was surprised when William came to say goodbye.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been much used to you TJ but…”
“Will, I do understand but I am on the other end of the line if you need to talk.” Will, gave a slight smile.

Art just stood there and said, “Remember my birthday and it’s a boy’s weekend.”
“I wouldn’t miss it but it is ages away and I will be back for it.” Harmony wasn’t impressed but Art said, “Oh Aunt Harm, he’ll be fine trust me.” Harmony wanted to have words but Estevan got in first, “TJ, enjoy yourself listen to the tutors and there will be plenty of work when you get back.”
“Umm thanks Estevan.” They left as they knew Ty wanted to say his goodbye to Harmony in private.

He hugged her and quietly said, “Two weeks will fly by.”
“I hope so because I’m going to miss you.”
“I love you, Beauty.”
“Please be safe, something keeps telling me something will happen.”
“Nothing will happen; I’ll phone you every day and I will try and speak to you through my thoughts as Daphne says I need the practise.”
“I love you Ty, please be take care of yourself.”

Ty kissed her before he left the house. He headed for the taxi waiting, taking one last look at Harmony through the window.

Someone was watching Ty leave the house, “Well, well, well, he is a sexy new vampire. I must get to know this delicious young man so I guess I’m taking a trip. Blair and that human can wait; I mean a girl must have her fun.” She called for a taxi and told the driver, “Follow that taxi in front.”
