4.5 Wondering what you are doing

Four days later

Over the last few days Dawn's phone had rung several times each day but when the ID said Estevan, Dawn didn't want another row especially over the phone. Lying on the bed they shared, she looked at the empty space next to her and hated the fact he wasn't there next to her. 

When she wouldn't answer the phone, Blake would knock the door and say, "Dad's on the phone. He wants to speak to you." Dawn would look at Blake and reply, "Tell your Dad I'm fine." Blake would pass the message on but even he knew that word fine meant there is a storm on its way and his Dad was going to be right in the thick of it.

Dawn decided to work on some designs for the casino. Each design she hated and put in the bin. 

Dawn stopped for a moment and went to the window looking out at the beach. Suddenly the thought of Estevan crept back in her mind. 'What has he been doing in Lucky Palms for these past few days and what is this secret he is keeping from me? Doesn't he trust me? I thought he loved me?'

Dawn heard a voice from behind her, "I do trust you and love you." She turned around and saw her boyfriend looking at her as he continued to say, "Why are you mad at me?"

Estevan had been hoping for a romantic reunion when he got home but knew by Dawn's look that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. He moved closer as Dawn spoke, "What happened with this guy?"

"I sorted things out."

Dawn shouted at him, "What do you mean by that?"

"He attacked Mathew giving him two black eyes. Then he attacked Mathew's roommate and he laughed about it so I killed him. The police were informed and when they found out who the guy was they weren't that bothered."

"You mean they turned a blind eye?" Dawn spat back.

"They have my details but its one less criminal on the streets and no I didn't sell any drugs while I was there either before you ask."

Dawn collapsed on the floor, "I'm sick of fighting with you." Estevan sat next to her and replied, "Then don't fight with me." He tried to kiss her but she refused his advances.

Estevan asked, "Ok what have I done now?"

"What's this big secret you are hiding?"

"I can't tell you. I will but not yet."

Dawn feeling very let down asked, "Don't you trust me?"

He pulled Dawn close and replied, "I trust you but this secret has to be dealt with in the right way. I've held on to this for a long time and coming clean is not easy."

Dawn was confused, "What are you talking about? You just tell us what it is and then it's out in the open."

Estevan softly replied, "Darling, I know what you are telling me is right but this is big and it doesn't just affect me."

Dawn replied, "What are you afraid of?"

Estevan didn't want to discuss it any further and asked, "Please can I have a welcome home kiss?"

Dawn let the conversation drop and kissed him. She had to admit it felt good being in his arms and feeling his lips against hers. Then he notice paper in the bin. "Why are you throwing your designs in the bin? Are they for the casino?"

Dawn looked at Estevan and said, "They are. I wasn't happy with them. It didn't look right and I haven't been in the right frame of mind."

"What about this one on the table?"

"It's better than the others but it needs more work, why?"

"I like your designs and like this one so don't throw it away. This is why all designs go through me and no one else." He put his hand through her hair while pulling closer towards him. "I don't want to talk about work. I want to see my girlfriend, do you know where she is?" teasing her, making Dawn smile.

Playing along she asked, "Well she is here in your arms."

Estevan loved her smile as it made her eyes sparkle and replied, "Good because I want a loving kiss."

As they kissed it became more intense and passionate and before they knew what was happening they were making love on the floor making up for the last few days.
